20 Sep Best Vegan Restaurants in Orlando, Florida
Since I started my journey to plant-based, I try everything I can, to get my dad on board. My dad is a relatively healthy person. He runs, works out frequently, drinks so much water and supplements the vitamins he needs most. But, that’s not all he can do to protect his heart.
My dad has very limited information on his biological father, including his health. What we do know; his mom has congestive heart failure (BNP 15k for my nurse readers), she’s also had open heart surgery. His brother, quadruple bypass. His sister also has heart issues with other nutritional diseases like diabetes. This scares the crap out of me because I don’t want him to end up like them (and most Americans), especially since I know how to prevent it! So I try to influence him on making smarter choices with food.
The great thing about my dad is he is not a picky eater. He will eat anything, literally. He’s eaten shark, alligator, octopus the list goes on. Which is great, because we have so much fun checking out vegan/vegetarian places in Orlando.
With all that being said, here are some of our favorite places. Since we were way too excited to try the food, I don’t have pictures for some of the places. But once we go back, I’ll make sure to snap a few of our favorite dishes.
1. Ethos Vegan Kitchen – 601 S New York Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789
Honestly, one of my favorites. The bruschetta is so BOMB! Seriously, I had a grilled chickun’ sandwich with bruschetta and a milkshake. I was too full for dessert and that NEVER happens. We had a variety of things, both my grandfather and brother had no clue it was vegan & they cleared their plates. Other things I would recommend are meatball sub, mashed potatoes, and the Philly sandwich.
2. Drunken’ Monkey – 444 N Bumby Ave, Orlando, FL 32803
Great coffee spot, kind of reminds me of Central Perk from friends. Cozy place with different types of furniture, art on the walls.
We had some breakfast pastries and their signature drink. Good place to get work done.
3. Market on South – 2603 E South St, Orlando, FL 32803
This little gem, is one of the first places I took my dad to. Cafe style spot with a great menu! (including some amazing desserts)
It’s also like a small market inside, with art, cups, clothes etc.
4. Legumaniti- 2401 Curry Ford Rd, Orlando, FL 32806
New spot alert! These guys are relatively new, and they are doing things right! It’s half cafe, half restaurant.
The OG crunch is their specialty, and it is delicious! We did one of each so we can try them all and the OG crunch is the best. Its a tortilla stuffed with soy chorizo, lettuce, tomatoes and much more. It’s also a great place to get work done, there’s a wall of small tables perfect for working on your computer. It also reminds me of Chip & Jo, industrial style interior with tons of shiplap.
5. Olympic Tavern – 2327 N Main St, Rockford, IL 61103
Love this place, it’s like a scene from a biker movie. Dark inside with art, pool table and if I remember correctly, some arcade games. It’s more of a vegetarian place, they have a bunch of gardein options. & they also have, a vegan’s favorite, potatoes! Haha, all kinds of seasoned tater tots.
